India’s Step to Tackle Air Pollution

India is getting polluted and the level of pollution is increasing day by day. According to an investigation led by
Greenpeace, this year more than 2 million people died just because of air pollution. The report that Greenpeace submitted is titled “Airpocalypse” which you can find here. In their report, it was stated that air pollution is one of the main reasons for public health and economic crisis in India. According to the report, the number of deaths caused by tobacco use and the number of deaths caused by air pollution is different by merely a fraction. India is overtaking China in the number of deaths caused by air pollution. So, they need to address the problem as soon as possible.

To tackle the problem, India is going to introduce electric cars which will be used by everyone. As we know, electric cars will not only lower the costs for running vehicles but also will reduce the air pollution since it will be run by electricity, not petrol or diesel.

Coal and mines minister Piyush Goyal said, “We are going to introduce electric vehicles in a very big way. We are going to make electric vehicles self-sufficient. The idea is that by 2030, not a single petrol or diesel car should be sold in the country.”
