Microsoft Released AI Powered App for Visually Impaired People on iOS

Microsoft has recently launched an iOS app called ‘Seeing AI’. It is as the name suggests, a ‘talking camera for the blind’.

It’s a pretty simple AI powered app. At first, open the app and point your camera in any direction. The app will tell you what’s in front of you. Moreover, it gives you basic details of what’s in front of you.

From identifying your friends and different elements around you to reading a barcode and identifying currency, this app can do it all. Though the latter two are still available in some selected country. This can read you pages from books and even correct your position if that goes out of focus.

Microsoft hopes that it will help those people with visual impairment. The app is a result of Microsoft’s research with AI or ‘Artificial Intelligence’. This app uses machine learning to analyze the data. It shows us what we can achieve with machine learning if put to right use.

This app is free right now. You can download it here.
